Mission
To communicate a sale of part of Anixter International,
Inc. to employees who would be leaving and those who would remain
Accomplished
After interviewing the executives involved, we
- Developed plans for two scenarios: one in
case the sale information leaked early, and another if the announcement was made on
schedule
- Assembled a daily calendar of tactics to
ensure all activities were completed before and after the sale announcement
- Put together talking points and FAQs for
the CEO to use in communicating actions to the rest of the executive team
- Developed talking points and FAQs for
other executives to use in explaining the sale and its repercussions to their employees:
different sets for those who were staying and those who would leave
- Wrote a script for a company-wide call
hosted by the CEO
- Scripted a video of the CEO sharing this
information, which was sent to offices that would not be able to participate in the call
- Developed cover letters from the CEO to go
with copies of the sale news release to employees
- Made postings on the Intranet to keep
employees informed of the progress of the sale and transition
- Provided drafts of letters from employees
to customers and suppliers for employees, so they could keep their external audiences
informed
